Although...you will probably get shit most of the time. At 500g-750g/per key it gets pricey. Lets say you make open 100 chests for 75K in keys. You get 99 shitty weapons at 250g each (at trader). You are now out 50k...however if that 1 item drops...like a Gold Fellblade 15>15...and you can sell it of 300K...then you are up 250K. Not to mention some of those items going to be worth more then 250g. It is like gambling. People do it for fun. I always carry keys...but don't go on chest runs...YET?

Funny I read this after my post

Quick question...? If you get a Gold from the first person will all other players get a gold item drop?

BTW are the S. Shiverpeaks or the Desert better for this? Or would you suggest somewhere else to do this?

The was the clearest explanation of farming to date, with in-depth resources <clickable links>...I can't put it any simpler then 1 person going out, whacking a mob to death <more then 1 mob at a time> to obtain gold/drops.

just follow paths, bring balanced stance and use when azure shadows come out. sprint when you need to, and theres about 2-3 chests per run, its a very short run, takes about 3-4 minutes per run...

decent drops, i got a req 8 gold max wingblade and a req 10 gold max fellblade back to back... so you judge. i'd say the goldurple ratio is about 1:4, chances are 99% the item is max.
I just tested this route out 20 times. Each run har 3 chest, one gold and two purple. got one +29 hale staff, but most gold not worth more than 1k... And I mostly got casters items(one shield and hammer, both purple).

Get a "character build" suited for taking on many creatures as possible at once without dying. Then you've got yourself a farming build. Then you just need to know where to hunt to farm. Most people farm griffons off of Augury Rock in prophet's path.

aye, usually what you look for are weapon mods or weapons with certain things like say 15% damage over 50% hp. Or, another good one is 15% damage while in a stance. Things like those sell

Don't be sorry. Asking questions is the road to knowledge, which rids the world of ignorance one person at a time. You can quote me on that one :P

Sell to the people, so for how much? Maybe when you look at the price on the NPCs then you higher it.

Actually, if you stick with it you can get some extremely valuable stuff. I too don't farm for profit, but rather for salvaging mods. I was able to expert salvage an insightful staff head (+5 energy) and a staff wrapping of shelter (armor +7 vs physical) and crafted my own Bortak's Bone Staff. You can get the staff in Snake dance or the Crystal Dessert, and just add the mods. Beats buying one for 100k + ecto's!! I also got a gold axe out of a chest while doing the Borlis pass mission. It was low damage, but surprisingly had a max (20%) axe grip of enchanting on it which I promptly expert salvaged out. Only bad thing is when you get screwed and it salvages into crafting material. I had that happen on 3 gold bows in a row!! grrrrrr. Try farming the chests in Grenth's footprint. You can find 5 chests and it does take a while due to the number of enemies and their toughness. But I have got a superior rune of Vigor, 4 major runes of vigor, superior monk runes and 3 runes of major absorption, as well as some nice gold weapons. For speed farming go with Whitmans folly as was mentioned in several other posts.

I've used bought keys and used dropped keys and I have yet to see a gold drop item and no item has been worth the key price at all in ANY of the areas I've been to and that includes Shiverpeaks. I think the guy above that said he got (2) golds and max everytime is fibbing big time. But, that's just my opinion from my own experiences. I've opened at least 12 chests now with no results of anything of any value. Fortunately I stopped buying keys at 4. What a waste of money.

He really wasnt lying though I have seen a nonmax dmg item comeout of a cheast in SF. Talk about wierd gold non-max. LOL But Ive gotton Sup Absorb and Sup Vigor from Chests in the past.... as far as farming them....no way fust not worth the risk vs. gain Imho. But thats just it its a money sink and its sort of like having the Lotto in game. Anyways good luck in your future cheast encounters..... PS if a purple comes out of a chest it will only drop purples for the whole party.. same for Gold if one drops it will drop Gold for the whole Party. That way everyone dosnt have to through keys at the chest just watch to see what drops for the first person if gold go for it if not just wait for the next chest.

best i can do is explain it to you.

first things first, always carry with you 4 obsidian keys at a time, some runs i see more than 4 chests in one run.

You need a standard running build that includes:
Charge(e)
Spirint
Diciplined Stance
Endure Pain
Purge Conditions
Smite Hex
Healing Signet
Rebirth

Reason i carry rebirth is sometimes i go down with a partner, and we travel in different directions and scout fow faster, we communicate via teamspeak till we find chests, we open them, the when opening them you need to identify what kind of chest it is, example, if the chest drops a purple item, then warn your partner that its a purple chest, and will only reveal purples no matter how many times you open it.

If you find a gold item chest that drops a offhand weapon, like a storm artifact, then the chance it will be some type of offhand weapon for your partner, but i've been proven wrong before, i got a protective icon and my partner had a chaos axe, a useless one though so i was happy haha.

Best items ive found fow, chaos axe 15>50 req 9, soon as i sold this puppy, all my worries went away, i could finally buy 15 armor set for a few of my characters, and a fow helmet for my warrior, also the chest where i found this axe was 30 seconds away from where you spawn in fow.

Anyway to start off, you basically run past all the shadow army at the start, dont worry they are your friends compaired to the skeleton army, when you get the nack of it, you dont even have to use endure pain past them, the only time you use endure pain is when you run past skele mobs, they'll drain your energy and freeze you while the beserkers own you from behind, so you charge in, endure pain, smite hex, you might get cry of fustration on your smite hex, its the most annoying part, these ether skeletons can interrupt a 1/4 second purge conditions. so hopefully you can get around them without you dying, u should have enough nrg left to use sprint and away you go again.

Anyway the first place to check for chests is the great battlefield, which is where those lich dragons are, scout all around there, in the time ive been down there, these chests do spawn in specified random locations, but these random locations are not very random lol, example say if a chest spawns in a certian spot, remember that location for next time, mabye a few more runs down the track it will spawn in that location, when you spent as many times down there running you start to see the pattern. anyway i think i type too much, hopefully u can figure the rest yourself. gl

Do not carry enchantments in fow if your running solo, they will be stripped before you can say "wtf"
